Cloud Security Threat Modeling Engineer | Remote | Contract

Walker Healthforce is seeking a Cloud Security Threat Modeling Engineer with a minimum of 6 years of IT experience, including 4 years in cybersecurity or information security, to support enterprise security architecture, threat modeling, and risk assessment initiatives. This role focuses on evaluating cybersecurity risks across cloud and on-premises environments, conducting technical architecture reviews, and assessing security controls. The ideal candidate will bring experience with STRIDE, PASTA, MITRE ATT&CK, or MITRE ATLAS, hands-on Python development, and knowledge of Terraform, CloudFormation, SDLC, and CI/CD pipelines. This is a Contract opportunity.

Core Requirements:

• Minimum 6 years of IT experience, including at least 4 years in cybersecurity or information security roles supporting on-premises and cloud environments.

• Demonstrated expertise in threat modeling methodologies such as STRIDE, PASTA, MITRE ATT&CK, or MITRE ATLAS.

• Experience conducting security assessments, vulnerability analyses, and technical risk evaluations.

• Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, encryption, infrastructure security, and network segmentation.

• Experience designing, analyzing, and reviewing technical architectures.

• Hands-on Python coding experience with the ability to write and interpret scripts.

• Experience reviewing Infrastructure as Code configurations using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.

• Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle processes and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience evaluating security risks across AWS or GCP cloud environments and on-premises infrastructure.

• Knowledge of cybersecurity controls, including firewalls, encryption, and intrusion detection systems.

• Experience identifying vulnerabilities and supporting remediation activities.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cloud engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application development teams.

• Associate-level or Professional-level AWS or GCP cloud certification.

• Associate-level or Professional-level cybersecurity certification.

Job Responsibilities:

• Conduct threat modeling assessments using STRIDE, PASTA, MITRE ATT&CK, or MITRE ATLAS.

• Identify cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and potential security risks.

• Review technical architectures to assess security controls and design weaknesses.

• Evaluate authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, encryption, infrastructure security, and network segmentation practices.

• Conduct security assessments across cloud and on-premises environments.

• Review Infrastructure as Code configurations using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.

• Analyze SDLC processes and CI/CD pipelines for security risks.

• Develop and interpret Python scripts supporting security engineering and analysis.

• Evaluate cloud infrastructure security and recommend improvements.

• Support implementation and maintenance of cybersecurity controls.

• Monitor security incidents and support investigation and resolution.

• Collaborate with engineering and security teams to integrate cybersecurity best practices.

• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and technical documentation.

• Communicate security findings and remediation recommendations to technical stakeholders.
