Walker Healthforce is seeking a Lead Applied AI Engineer with advanced-to-expert experience building enterprise Generative AI and agentic applications. Candidates must currently reside in Tampa, FL or Nashville, TN and be available to work onsite 2-3 days per week. Relocation candidates will not be considered.

Location: Tampa, FL or Nashville, TN – Hybrid, 2-3 days/week onsite
Hours/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours
Contract: Through 05/29/2027
Travel: Approximately 10%

Core Requirements:

• Advanced-to-expert Applied AI and software engineering experience
• 3+ years building AI/ML and agentic applications
• Hands-on Generative AI and LLM integration experience
• RAG pipeline development
• AI agent development and orchestration
• Vector database and retrieval experience
• Prompt engineering and AI evaluation experience
• Responsible AI knowledge spanning governance, security, privacy, transparency, human oversight, and model evaluation
• 6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience
• Python and/or .NET development
• APIs and microservices
• Cloud-native engineering
• Azure, AWS, or GCP experience
• Unit and integration testing
• Technical leadership and engineering standards experience
• Must currently reside in Tampa or Nashville
• Must be available onsite 2-3 days per week
• No relocation candidates

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead development of enterprise AI-enabled applications
• Build LLM and Generative AI integrations
• Design and implement RAG pipelines
• Develop AI agents and agentic workflows
• Implement vector-based retrieval solutions
• Develop AI-enabled services using Python and/or .NET
• Build cloud-native APIs and microservices
• Integrate enterprise AI platforms and cloud services
• Apply Responsible AI practices throughout development
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs and solution quality
• Troubleshoot and optimize AI-enabled applications
• Establish and maintain engineering standards
• Conduct code reviews and maintain software quality
• Mentor and guide engineering team members
• Support testing and production-quality delivery
