Tech Lead — AI Engineering (AWS Bedrock AgentCore) | Onsite | Atlanta, GA / Hartford, CT / St. Paul, MN | Contract

Walker Healthforce is seeking a Tech Lead — AI Engineering (AWS Bedrock AgentCore) with 9+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years of hands-on production GenAI/agentic AI experience, to provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering for enterprise agentic AI and RAG solutions. This is a Contract opportunity.

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Onsite — Atlanta, GA; Hartford, CT; or St. Paul, MN. Candidates should be willing to relocate or work from one of these office locations.
Hours/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours
Worker Type: W2

Core Requirements:

• 9+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years of production GenAI/agentic AI experience
• Direct hands-on experience implementing AWS Bedrock AgentCore
• Strong Python and Terraform expertise
• Deep RAG, vector database, and agent orchestration experience
• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, and/or Strands
• Experience with MCP and LLM evaluation frameworks
• Experience leading engineers and owning technical architecture decisions
• Working knowledge of OpenAI/LLMs, ReactJS, NodeJS, Jenkins, GitHub, Claude, and Copilot

We Consider It A Bonus If You Also Have:

• Insurance or claims domain experience
• Forward Deployed Engineer background
• AWS AI Practitioner, Solutions Architect, and/or Machine Learning Specialty certification

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead architecture and technical direction for agentic AI systems using AWS Bedrock AgentCore
• Design multi-agent workflows incorporating tool calling, multi-step reasoning, and human-in-the-loop patterns
• Architect and optimize end-to-end RAG pipelines
• Develop and review production Python services supporting agent and RAG capabilities
• Drive Terraform-based infrastructure-as-code for AWS AI workloads
• Implement secure MCP integrations for tool and agent access
• Establish AI evaluation, observability, governance, guardrail, and security standards
• Lead technical design reviews, architecture decisions, and code reviews
• Mentor AI/ML engineers while remaining actively involved in hands-on development
• Communicate AI architecture decisions effectively with business and technical stakeholders
