Senior Data Engineer | Remote | Contract

Walker Healthforce is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with 5+ years of experience to design, develop, and scale enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and backend data services. This is a Contract opportunity.

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Remote
Hours/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours
Worker Type: W2

Core Requirements:

• 5+ years of Data Engineering experience
• 5+ years of hands-on Python experience developing production-grade data pipelines and reusable data processing frameworks
• 4+ years of Spark/PySpark experience building and optimizing data pipelines
• 2+ years of experience developing backend systems and RESTful APIs using Python
• Experience with FastAPI, Django, and/or Flask
• Experience with ETL/ELT, data ingestion, distributed processing, and data modeling
• Exposure to orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or similar

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and evolve scalable enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and warehouse/lakehouse environments
• Develop reusable ETL/ELT frameworks and data ingestion connectors
• Build and optimize Spark/PySpark pipelines for batch and streaming workloads
• Develop reliable Python-based backend systems and RESTful APIs
• Support data orchestration, pipeline monitoring, and lifecycle management
• Apply data quality, governance, lineage, security, and compliance standards
• Optimize data platform and pipeline performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on end-to-end data engineering initiatives
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering team members
