Walker Healthforce is seeking a Node.js API Developer with 4+ years of experience to provide backend API development and support for enterprise workflow applications. This is a Contract opportunity.

Start Date: ASAP
Location: Remote
Hours/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours
Worker Type: W2

Core Requirements:

• 4+ years of professional experience with Node.js and Express
• Strong RESTful API design and development experience
• Strong PostgreSQL database skills, including schema design and query optimization
• Experience implementing backend business rules and decision logic
• Experience with unit/integration testing and CI/CD
• Experience integrating APIs with upstream and downstream enterprise systems

We Consider It A Bonus If You Also Have:

• GCP or cloud-native development experience
• Healthcare payer or provider industry experience
• Referral management, specialty recommendation, or prior authorization workflow experience
• Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or X12 275/278
• Consulting or client-facing delivery experience

Job Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services
• Develop business rules and decision logic supporting application workflows
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas and queries
• Manage database migrations and evolving data models
• Integrate backend services with upstream and downstream enterprise systems
• Implement data validation, error handling, audit logging, and application security controls
• Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests
• Collaborate with front-end, integration, QA, product, and business teams
• Support performance tuning, monitoring, observability, code reviews, and CI/CD activities
• Maintain technical documentation
