Senior AI Engineer — Agentic Systems | Plano, TX / NY/NJ / Columbus, OH | Contract

Walker Healthforce is seeking a Senior AI Engineer — Agentic Systems with 7+ years of software engineering experience to provide production engineering and development of customer-facing agentic AI solutions. This is a Contract opportunity.

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Onsite 5 days/week – Plano, TX; NY/NJ; or Columbus, OH

Hours/Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours

Worker Type: W2

Core Requirements:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with senior/lead-level ownership of production systems

• Proven hands-on delivery of LLM-based agentic systems in production

• Strong Python and Java experience

• Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph, prompt/context engineering, tool/function calling, and RAG

• Working knowledge of PyTorch and model fundamentals

• Experience with LLM serving/inference using vLLM or comparable technologies

• Experience with commercial LLM APIs

• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, CI/CD, and observability

We Consider It A Bonus If You Also Have:

• Experience with agent-builder platforms such as Sierra or Decagon

• Voice agent, real-time/streaming inference, or contact-center integration experience

• Experience working in regulated industries such as finance or healthcare

• Experience with model risk, compliance review, or audit trails

• Experience with LangSmith, Braintrust, custom evaluation harnesses, or LLM safety/guardrail tooling

Job Responsibilities:

• Design and build production-grade agentic workflows for customer-facing use cases

• Develop multi-turn conversational experiences incorporating tool calling, retrieval, escalation, and human handoff

• Build and manage agent orchestration using LangGraph/LangChain or equivalent frameworks

• Integrate AI agents with Java/Spring microservices, APIs, and event streams

• Develop automated evaluations, regression testing, trace analysis, and agent-quality measurement

• Support LLM inference, model routing, prompt/context management, and serving

• Implement appropriate guardrails, failure recovery, PII handling, auditability, deterministic fallbacks, and observability

• Deploy and monitor reliable AI solutions within high-scale production environments
