AI Engineer | 6+ Years of Experience | Hybrid | Charlotte, NC | Contract

Walker Healthforce is seeking an experienced AI Engineer to support an innovative enterprise AI initiative focused on transforming how professionals access information, automate workflows, and deliver intelligent, data-driven experiences.

In this role, you will design, build, and deploy enterprise AI applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable, secure, and production-ready AI solutions that drive measurable business value within a highly regulated environment.

CORE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering, AI/ML Engineering, Search Engineering, or related technical roles.
• Hands-on experience developing enterprise AI applications using Large Language Models (LLMs), APIs, and agent or orchestration frameworks.
• Experience building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions, semantic search capabilities, vector databases, or enterprise knowledge systems.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or other modern programming languages.
• Experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based production systems, APIs, and enterprise data pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Design and develop enterprise AI applications that improve productivity, knowledge discovery, and decision support.
• Build Agentic AI capabilities that automate workflows, synthesize information, and support intelligent task execution.
• Develop RAG solutions utilizing enterprise content, structured and unstructured data, and knowledge repositories.
• Integrate AI solutions with APIs, databases, CRM platforms, and enterprise applications.
• Implement prompt engineering, orchestration logic, tool integration, routing, and memory management for AI applications.
• Create evaluation frameworks to measure model accuracy, latency, relevance, safety, and business effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Security, Compliance, Legal, and Business teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Apply engineering best practices focused on scalability, maintainability, observability, auditability, and operational excellence.
• Support AI governance, responsible AI practices, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute reusable frameworks, accelerators, and best practices for enterprise AI delivery.

• Experience supporting wealth management, financial services, or other regulated industries.
• Experience with agent frameworks, workflow orchestration, tool-calling, or multi-agent systems.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, LLM evaluation, AI observability, experimentation, and model performance optimization.
• Experience integrating AI with CRM platforms, customer-facing applications, or enterprise business workflows.
• Familiarity with responsible AI, privacy, security, governance, and compliance requirements.
• Experience designing highly scalable, cloud-native AI applications.
